The Ullal police succeeded in seizing the mini lorry that had emptied a load of garbage into the sea at Ullal Kodi. The truck was handed over to Ullal City Municipal Council for further action.
A mini lorry had dumped thermocol boxes into the sea a week ago at Kodi. The visitors to the beach videographed the incident and posted it on social media. As the video went viral, Ullal CMC Commissioner Rayappa wrote to Traffic police on seizing the truck. The police acted swiftly and seized the lorry.
DCP (Law and Order) Hariram Shankar said that the municipality has powers to fine up to Rs 1 lakh. As per records, the truck was owned by G Usman of Ullaibettu and the driver was Abdul Khader, also a resident of Ullaibettu.
