Miscreants make futile bid to rob banks in Dakshina Kannada district

 The miscreants had broke open the window and entered the strong room. However, they have failed to break open the safe locker. But, they have searched all the papers and documents.

Finger print experts and dog squad was pressed into service. A case has been registered.

In a separate incident, some miscreants have tried to rob Vijaya Bank in Bettampady in Puttur taluk. They have gained entry by breaking open the window and disconnecting the siren wire.

However, they have failed to break open the safe locker. Miscreants have left behind a pickaxe and blade on the spot. A case has been registered in Panambur police station.

Rohi murderer held

Police have arrested the prime accused in the murder of rowdy sheeter Vamanjoor Rohi alias Rohidas Shetty on Monday. The arrested is Bhaskar. It may be recalled that Rohi was murdered on July 5 at a house in Jyothingara in Tiruvail village. Police had already arrested four persons on July 10.  The arrested was produced before the court.

Pedestrian killed

A pedestrian was killed when a Maruthi Omni knocked him down at Kanyadi in Belthangady on Monday. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Sundara (30).

Another pedestrian who suffered injuries is recuperating in the hospital.

Speed and negligent driving is said to be the reason for the mishap.  A case has been registered.

2 drown

Krishna Devadiga (15), son of Parvati Devadiga, and Lakshman Kulal (15), son of Somu Kulal, met watery grave at a stone quarry at Ultoor village near Tekkatte in Kundapur taluk on Sunday evening.

The duo were ninth standard students of Tekkatte and Kedoor high school respectively.
A case has been registered.
