The District Congress Committee members have demanded the resignation of MP Pratap Simha for failing to ensure the non-implementation of the Kasturirangan report in the district.

“Pratap Simha had promised that the Kasturirangan report on the conservation of the Western Ghats will not be implemented in the district. However, he has failed to live up to his promise. Therefore, he should step down from his post,” urged the District Congress Committee members.

Addressing media persons on Thursday, Committee spokesperson Tatu Monnappa said that the people of Talacauvery and Brahmagiri have been preserving the Nature. “But, they themselves have no protection. The MP’s assurances have turned out to be false. He has remained silent over the issue,” he added.

The elected representatives of the BJP have been making baseless allegations on the state government to cover their mistakes. They have been misleading the people of the district, said Monnappa.

Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghatane district convener Tennira Maina said that the objections to the Kasturirangan report, submitted by the residents, have not been considered. The Centre has shown its dictatorship attitude by implementing the recommendations of the Kasturirangan report.
