Mysore Railway division records impressive growth

Welfare schemes for the staff and their wards planned

Divisional Railway manager Vinod Kumar has said that the overall earnings between April-July 2012 in Mysore division has stood at Rs 197.37 crore up by a healthy 12.37 percent in comparison to last year (April-July2011)

He was speaking after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of the 66th Independence Day, here on Wednesday at the Railway Sports ground and said that the originating loading of the division up to July 2012 in the current financial year stood at 2.388 million tonnes, an increase of 4.2 per cent over the corresponding period of last year.

“Mysore division is mainting a spotless record in the area of safety with no major mishap taking place in the current year. The division is committed to keep this trend intact with preventive checks in safety-related aspects, at all levels, the backdrop of several disturbing accidents in the adjoining Railways in the recent past,” said Vinod Kumar and added “I am confident of achieving 90 per cent punctuality of all passenger carrying trains on the division, express as well as ordinary trains.”

He said that several critical infrastructure projects on the division have been put on fast track and the newly laid Kadur-Chikmagalore broad gauge line is likely to be commissioned shortly.

The focus on improving dispensation of tickets in both reserved and unreserved segments will continue to be a priority area for the division with many technological upgradation having been made in this area, he added.

He touched upon various welfare schemes for the staff and their wards including scholarship for meritorious students, said a press release from senior divisional commercial manager Dr Anup Dayanand Sadhu.
