Minister for Tourism, Ecology and Environment C P Yogeeshwara said that the state government is committed for the development of tourism and a series of programmes will be organised all round the year on Mysuru Palace premises, to attract more tourists.

The minister disclosed the plans of the government to boost tourism, while interacting with journalists, at Mysuru District Journalists’ Association here on Friday.

An annual timetable for cultural activities is prepared for all 365 days on the Palace premises. “Programmes will be held between 4 pm and 10 pm. We will get advise of historians, writers and prominent personalities in the cultural field, about the events,” he said.

Yogeeshwara said, “A Disneyland-like project at Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam in Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya district, will be taken up and Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa is considering the plan. It will be taken up under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model soon. The project is an extension of the Brindavan Garden and it will be taken up without harming the KRS dam.”

The minister said, “The government is committed to develop a rope-way to Chamundi Hill as a tourists’ attraction. As the project is opposed by eco-activists, the rope way will be developed without disturbing the ecology. The rope-way can be developed without harming the nature using modern technology.”

“We have planned to develop the rope-way at Nandi Hills also. There are many rope-ways in North India. Rope-ways are planned to boost tourism and to attract tourists. A few indigenous companies, having experience in developing rope-ways, have approached the government,” he said.
