Pulse racing sports in action

JSS College (Ooty Road), Vidyavardhaka PU College and Vijaya Vitthala Composite PU College clinched the Volleyball, Kabaddi and Throwball events respectively at the district-level sports tournament organised jointly by Vidyavardhaka PU College and Vocational Education College here on Tuesday.

Volleyball

With 14 teams participating in the tournament, JSS College (Ooty Road) trounced Vidyavardhaka PU College by 25-22 and 27-25 in the finals.

Earlier, in the semi-finals, JSS College (Ooty Road) had beat Maharaja’s PU College by 25-21 and 25-17.

In another semi-finals, Vidyavardhaka PU College defeated Vijaya Vitthala Composite PU College by  25-21, 19-25, 25-22 to make it to the finals.

Kabaddi

With 12 teams throwing a tough competition, Vidyavardhaka PU College trounced Mahaveera PU College by 34-21 in the finals.

Earlier, in the semi-finals Vidyavardhaka PU College had won against K Puttaswamy PU College by scoring 32-21 and Mahaveera PU College beat D Banumaiah’s PU College by 28-22.

Throwball

With eight teams competing in the tournament, it was equally exciting.

Vijaya Vitthala Composite PU College beat Government Maharani’s PU College by 25-19 and  25-20.

In the semi-finals, Maharani’s PU College beat JSS Women’s (Saraswathipuram) by 25-18, 25-21 and Vijaya Vitthala Composite PU College had easily won against Chinmaya PU College by 25-12, 25-15.

Chess tournament

D G Thiruvengada Mudaliyar Educational Institute in association with Mysore Chess Centre is organising U-15 D G Thiruvengada Mudaliyar Memorial Chess Tournament in medalist and non-medalist categories on November 27 and 28 at DGTM School, Chamundivana, Near Sterling Talkies, Vidyaranyapuram.

Entries will be accepted at the venue from 1 pm to 2 pm on November 27. The entry fee for medalist category is ` 100, while for non-medalist category it is ` 50. Players born after January 1, 1995 are eligible to participate in the tournament. Players have been requested to bring their own chess sets. For further details contact 94807 70991.
Scholarships distributed

Janodaya, a trust that is striving for uplift of women and children, distributed scholarship of `600 to the children of members of various self-help groups of the region, in Mysore.Branch manager, Sandilkumar gave away the scholarships.
