Railway tracks a bane for farmers in Kundapur

However, for a few farmers, it has taken away their livelihood. The Konkan railway track in Kundapur has resulted in artificial flood in the adjoining areas.

After the construction of railway tracks, check dam to check intrusion of salt water at Bantwadi and development of Badakere road, artificial flood have surfaced at Nada, Badakere, Salpuda, Navunda, Maravanthe, Hadavu, Thenkabail, Padukone, Devale, thus affecting hundreds of acres of agriculture land.

With the development work, the easy flow of rainwater has been restricted, thus leading to artificial floods. The compensation paid for the loss of agriculture crops is meagre. The compensation is not paid scientifically, say the villagers. Inspite of the repeated memorandum, the elected representatives and the government has failed in finding a solution to the artificial flood. In fact, when CM was deputy CM, he had visited the spot along with A G Kodgi and had urged the officials to submit a report. However, the government has failed in finding a permanent solution.
