Rain continues to lash Kodagu

Intermittent rain continued to lash Kodagu district on Friday. Bhagamandala, Napoklu and Talacauvery received heavy rain coupled with gusty winds.

The rain in the last two days has increased the inflow of water to Harangi reservoir. About 22,183 cusecs water from the reservoir was released into Harangi river. The areas situated on the banks of river has been inundated. Around 1,000 cusecs of water was released into canal for irrigation. The Yadavanadu bridge near Kushalnagar is submerged. The floods in River Lakshmanatheertha receded as rains abated in south Kodagu. Both Harangi and Chiklihole dams are full. Many streams and rivulets in Kushalnagar taluk are overflowing following heavy rain.

Kushalnagar, Suntikoppa, Nanjarayapattana, Valnoor, Shirangala, Hebbale, Siddalingapura experienced good shower on Friday.

A huge fish pond breached in Mukkodlu village of Madikeri taluk washing away a large number of fish. Vast tracks of paddy fields have been flooded at Koodige and Hebbale villages. There have been reports of partial damage to houses in several villages.
