Rain recedes in Kodagu, Chikmagalur

Mudslide has been reported in Shirangalli on Madapura-Soorlabbi road

Though intensity of rainfall has receded in Kodagu district, Madikeri, Sampaje, Bhagamandala, Somwarpet and Srimangala continued to receive rainfall with intervals.

Mudslide near Shirangalli on Madapura-Soorlabbi road has been affecting movement of vehicles. A few electric poles have been uprooted on Garvale-Soorlabbi road. Paddy fields have been inundated at Mutlu village.

Though rainfall has removed the fear of drought this time, farmers may need to be wary of the possible floods ruining their crops.

To shift the residents from river bank, the district administration has opened gruel centres at Nelyahudikeri, Karadigodu, Monnangeri and Napoklu.

ZP members Shantheyanda Ravikushalappa, Tahsildar Anil Kumar visited the flood -affected areas in Mutlu and Hammiyala.

Residents of Mutlu said that paddy fields in 200 acre land has been damaged and the district administration should disburse compensation for the loss.

Mutlu-Hammiyala has recorded around 200 inches of rainfall since January. All the transplanted paddy seedlings have been damaged in the rainfall, they said.
Tahsildar Anil Kumar said that compensation will be paid to the victims.

The district has received an average of 34.63 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. It was 18.89 mm rainfall during the corresponding period last year. Kodagu district has received an average of 1924.28 mm rainfall (809.05 mm last year) since January.

Madikeri taluk has received 41.6 mm, Virajpet—17.45 mm and Somwarpet—44.83 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
Mudigere

A house was partially damaged in Mudigere following incessant rainfall in the taluk.

The house belongs to Vishwanath at Krishnapura. As a result, all the household articles have been damaged. Landslide has been reported at Guthi, Moolarahalli in the taluk.
Heavy rainfall in Kadur has filled Madagada Kere. The water-body irrigates over 2000 hectare farmland in the taluk.
