Rs. 1,527 cr credit plan launched in Kodagu

Speaking on the occasion, he said the state and the central governments have been giving emphasis to agriculture. The district lead bank too has given priority to the agriculture. He said “there is not much scope for huge industries in the district. However, small industries based on coffee can be set up in the region. In this background, the public can make use of the funds for the setting up of small industries.”

The priority sector credit with an outlay of Rs 1,327 crore constitutes 90 per cent of the plan.

Out of total priority sector, agriculture sector gets a share of Rs 827 crore, horticulture crops will get a sum of Rs 114 crore, 43 crore for irrigation and 74 crore for land development and mechanisation. The amount of allocation for small industries is Rs 21 crore.

In the credit plan, Madikeri taluk will get Rs 533 crore, Virajpet taluk—596 crore and Somwarpet taluk—398 crore.

Lead Bank Manager R Vasudevan said about 90 per cent progress has been achieved in 2010-11 credit plan by March end. The programme was presided by Zilla Panchayat CEO N Krishnappa.
