JOIN USOpposing Tipu Jayanti celebrations, Tipu Jayanti Virodhi Horata Samithi has called for Kodagu district bandh on November 10, said Samithi President M B Abhimanyukumar.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he said that the samithi will organise protest rallies in Somwarpet and Virajpet on November 8, to urge the government to drop the proposal to observe Tipu Jayanti.
A memorandum would be submitted to the government through Tahsildars.
A district level protest will be held at Madikeri on November 9.
The samithi will observe a peaceful protest opposing Tipu Jayanti on November 10. He appealed to the Chamber of Commerce, bus and auto owners association and members of various other organisations to extend their support for the same.
He warned that the district administration will be responsible for any untoward incident during Tipu Jayanti celebrations in the district.
