JOIN US After the University of Mysore (UoM) hosted the Indian Science Congress, its constituent college, Yuvaraja’s College, is organising ‘Yureka-2016’, a two-day State-level science festival from March 5.
UoM VC K S Rangappa will inaugurate the event while professor K J Rao from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will be the chief guest.
The fest will promote literary and scientific spirit among students. Prominent institutions like Mysore Science Foundation, Mathematical Laboratory of Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Mysuru, Anatomy department of JSS Medical College, Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Government Ayurveda College, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) and others will display science models at the event while the Central Food and Technological Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru, will showcase technologies involved in food processing.
Besides, a car developed by a polytechnic student from Kushalanagar will be on display. Three museums – Zoology, Botany and Geology – of the Yuvaraja’s College will be kept open for people.
Participants from Tumakuru, Mangaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Ujire, Moodabidri, Bengaluru, Mandya, Kodagu, Chama- rajanagar, Hassan and other districts will take part, said principal H Nanjegowda. The organisers have approached several schools and colleges to bring their students to the expo. The college has arranged free accommodation for the participants from other districts, said the principal.
The college has also organised a musical evening during the event. Cultural troupes from Mysuru and Bengaluru will present a variety of events. To promote the festival, the students had organised several events like cycle rally, online treasure hunt, blood donation camp, and Swachha Yuvaraja Abhiyana.
MLA Vasu and UoM Registrar C Basavaraju will take part in valedictory function.
