On Friday under the guidance of TMC tax official Nagaraj a street office was set up by the officials at the Valmiki nagar, second ward. The TMC officials came along with table, chair and relevant documents and opened a street office. The staff went from house to house and instructed the public to pay the tax. Nagarj himself started issuing the receipts.
Speaking to the media Nagarj said the drive was undertaken s per the guidance of in charge chief, tahsildar Hanumantharaya.
The TMC plans to recover Rs 5 lakh per month and by March reach the target of Rs 15 lakh, he said.
If tax is not paid water connection will be cut immediately. The SSA tax forms are filled up on the spot and people are asked to pay the amount at the bank.
TMC is also taking the help of Bescom in this drive.
