TP members move privilege motion against Kodagu ZP CEO

 All members of Madikeri Taluk Panchayat on Thursday moved a privilege motion against Zilla Panchayat CEO Charulathaa Somal on the charge of showing disrespect to Taluk Panchayat president Tekkade Shobha recently.

Speaking at the general meeting of the Panchayat, President Tekkade Shobha charged that Charulatha told her to go out of he chamber when she visited Charulatha’s office with Zilla Panchayat president B A Harish  to speak about the non-cooperation to the development works by her.

Member Nagesh said the Taluk Panchayat president is a nominated member of the Zilla Panchayat. The officers must respect her. The privilege motion would be passed in the meeting and the rural development minister and chief secretary would be written to initiate action against the CEO. If the CEO is not willing to work in Kodagu, she could get a transfer elsewhere, he said.

BEO Bommegowda said special training is being imparted to students to get good results in SSLC examinations. Kodagu is in 18th position in SSLC results. Efforts would be made as to bring the district within the first 10 position. A report is being sought on the schools which are in a dilapidated condition. Priority would be given to the schools which need urgent repairs, he added.

School visits

Shobha said she and the Taluk Panchayat members would visit all government schools in Madikeri taluk.

Member Uma said a controversy has marred Kikkera anganwadi from last two months and the parents of the children are seeking the transfer of the teacher. Kirandavadi and Kikkere anganwadi teachers have exchanged their positions by themselves which has led to confusion, she added.

Another member Nagesh said no one in the taluk has been given title deeds under 94(C). If it is not provided within 15 days, a card campaign would be carried out by writing post cards to the revenue minister, he added.

Shobha said preparations are on to provide title deeds to 43 people in Sampaje Gram Panchayat limits. Eight people have been given notices. 17 title deeds are ready in Napoklu Panchayat limits, she added.

Taluk Panchayat executive officer T N Vijayakumar, vice president Boliyadira Subramani and standing committee chairman Rayi Thammaiah were present in the meeting.
