Two-day government employees sports meet in city from December 28

A two-day district-level sports meet will be orgaised for government employees, under the aegis of Karn- ataka State Government Employees Association, at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in the city from December 28. Deputy Commissioner C Shikha will inaugurate the sports meet, while Police Commissioner B Dayananda will hoist the flag. SP Abhinav Khare will distribute prizes to winners during the valedictory ceremony.

20 events
Association district unit president H K Ramu told media, here, on Tuesday, as many as 20 events would be conducted, besides handicrafts exhibition and cultural programmes. Events like hockey, badminton, wrestling, kabaddi, volleyball, basketball, athletics, tennicoit, weightlifting, powerlifting, best physique, chess, throwball, carom, football, table tennis, tennis, cricket and swimming will be held.

Barring swimming, that will be conducted at the university swimming pool, football at sports pavilion, bridge at government employees association, table tennis at Rotary West, tennis at Chamarajapuram Club and cricket at Maharaja’s College cricket ground, all events will be conducted at Chamundi Vihar outdoor and indoor stadia.

Cultural programmes
The exhibition and cultural programmes will be organised either at Maneyangala in Kalamandira or at Chamundi Vihar Stadium, Ramu added. The events are open for all government employees, except for physical education officers, police, paramilitary and railway police personnel and also bank employees.

Interested may enrol on December 28 before 8.30 am at the ground. The first three winners in the sports meet will be eligible to participate in the State-level meet.
