Karnataka IIT toppers excel in AIEEE too

Last Updated 30 May 2009, 19:51 IST

The three toppers made light of their rankings, saying that getting through the AIEEE was a mere formality as they had already successfully cleared the All India IIT joint entrance examination (JEE).

Milind Mukesh Rao, who has made a habit of cracking these entrance examinations without breaking a sweat, has topped the AIEEE in Karnataka. This achievement comes after securing 32nd rank in the All India IIT JEE and fifth in the state CET. Milind feels that though the AIEEE rank was of little use now, he was nevertheless happy that he could top the exam. “This rank would have come in handy if I hadn’t gotten into IIT. It would have been the next best thing,” he says.

The second rank for AIEEE in the State has also gone to an IIT topper. Amith Warrier, who went to the same coaching centre as Milind, secured 78th rank in the IIT JEE. His friend and the candidate that rounds up the top three in the state, Arun Vinayak, said: “We have all secured top ranks in IIT JEE and so this rank is more an accolade that will look good on the resume.”

Arun too has a very high ranking in IIT JEE and has secured 261st rank in the country. With candid nonchalance, he said: “I had a lot of fun writing the AIEEE. All pressure was off me because I knew I had done the IIT entrance well.” A karate black-belt, Arun now intends to either do an engineering course in nano-technology from IIT Mumbai or mechanical engineering from IIT Chennai.

Faridabad boy does it again

It was a rare feat for Nitin Jain of Faridabad who topped two prestigious entrance examinations—All India Engineering Entrance Examination and IIT-Joint Entrance Exam—in the space of a week.

Jain, however, has decided to take admission in IIT, Delhi, with his IIT-JEE merit list.
“I was expecting the top position in AIEEE, as I had done well in the test. It gives much pleasure by securing top positions in both the national level entrance examinations,” an elated Nitin, a student of Modern Vidya Niketan in Faridabad, said. He said sticking to a planned schedule during the preparation was the secret of his success.

Nitin said he used to spent six to seven hours for studies everyday and good coaching could help in securing a higher rank.
