Bellary BJP nominee, wife in different parties

BJP candidate for Bellary Y Devendrappa and his wife Y Susheelamma find themselves in a rather strange situation, they are in different parties now.

While Devendrappa quit the Congress "as his services to the party were not recognised," his wife is a Zilla Panchayat member from Arsikere in Harapanahalli taluk.

The taluk was separated from Davangere district and merged with Ballari district recently. He was a follower of M P Prakash, the late minister who represented the Hoovinahadagali constiutuency.

He had quit the JD(S) and joined the Congress along with Prakash. At Friday's press conference, Devendrappa was asked whether his wife would campaign for him. He said, she would take her own decision, since it's a democracy.
