CM sheds tears again as poll day nears

With just a couple of days left for the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, on Monday, was seen shedding tears once again and explaining about his health issues while seeking votes for his son Nikhil.

Campaigning for his son at KR Pet, Kumaraswamy explained about his near-death experience during his visit to Israel and his heart problem. “I had stopped shedding tears in the public. But when JD(S) state president A H Vishwanath told me that nobody is understanding my situation and health condition, I am not able to control my emotions today," he said.

“I have not been able to govern with a calm mind right from the day I became chief minister. If I had won 120 seats, there would have been no problem," he said.

Criticising Independent candidate A Sumalatha, Kumaraswamy said, “As soon as I heard about Ambareesh’s demise, I rushed to the hospital, but Sumalatha was not there. I made all arrangements to bring Ambareesh’s body to his house, for the people to pay their last respects. Why should I have done all this? Now, she (Sumalatha) sheds tears and speaks against me, without showing the minimum courtesy".

"Sumalatha, who was against bringing the mortal remains of Ambareesh to Mandya, is now shedding tears before the people, creating a scene. It was the Janata Dal, which made Ambareesh an MP. We (Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy) turn emotional when we see people in crisis. I do not know, why she cries," he said.

He criticised the media by saying: “I am not living because of the media. I am alive only because of the people”.

Commenting on film actors Yash and Darshan, campaigning for Sumalatha, he said, “The duo from the cinema industry is speaking about self-esteem of Mandya. Yash is saying that ours is a party of thieves. He does not understand that my supporters are keeping quiet, just because we do not want to send any wrong message. I am also a producer. If there are no producers like me, how will they survive?," he said.
