Narendra Modi should be made prime minister for the second term to give a “befitting” reply to Pakistan and also to secure the country, said BJP national president Amit Shah.

Addressing an election rally here on Saturday, Shah said that the election was not only about making B Y Raghavendra as a member of Parliament, but also about making Narendra Modi prime minister again. “You should press the button next to Raghavendra’s name and the party symbol lotus without fail,” Shah said.

B Y Raghavendra, the son of BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa and Madhu Bangarappa, the son of former chief minister late S Bangarappa have locked horns in Shimoga parliamentary constituency.

Hundreds of labourers who were expecting an assurance from Shah about revival of Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Factory were in for a disappointment as the BJP national chief did not make any mention about it.

MLA and former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa, former chairman of Legislative Council D H Shankaramurthy, MLA Vishveshwara Hegade Kageri and others took part in the road show.

The public campaign for the elections will come to an end on Sunday 6 pm. District election officer has issued an order asking all the campaigners to leave the constituency. State and national leaders of all the three major political parties have campaigned for their candidates.
