Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah, on Friday promised that families below the poverty line will get 10 kg of rice for free, if Congress comes to power.
Speaking to reporters after participating in a temple ceremony at Gandanahalli in K R Nagar taluk, Mysuru district, he said, "Each BPL family was given 7 kg free rice during my tenure as the chief minister. The BJP brought it down to five kg and now it is said that it will be further reduced to three kg. I cannot tolerate the sufferings of the poor. Whatever the expenses, each poor family will get 10 kg rice, if our party comes to power."
"The government is citing corona for reducing the rice supply. What is the connection between corona and rice distribution? The government might have spent around Rs 6,000 crore for corona related expenses. But the Karnataka budget is for Rs 2,37,000 crore", he said.
