District In-charge Minister S T Somashekar warned of stern action against those dumping debris and garbage on the ring road in Mysuru.
The minister, along with the officials, visited the ring road on Sunday and was a witness to the construction debris, salon waste, poultry, meat waste and garbage strewn on the sides of the ring road, is not only an eyesore but also unhygienic.
‘Punishment inevitable’
Speaking to reporters, the minister warned: “It will be inevitable to punish those dumping waste and garbage on the ring road, on the lines of Bengaluru. If this continues, people will start dumping garbage on the road. Those dumping garbage will be identified and fined,” he said.
The police commissioner has been informed in this regard. In Bengaluru, vehicles dumping garbage are seized and fine is imposed. The owners are even sentenced to jail. This would be implemented in Mysuru also, he warned.
Departments given responsibility
Now, various departments like Mysuru Urban Development Authority, Mysuru City Corporation, Water Board and others have been given the responsibility of clearing the construction debris on the ring road. The ring road will turn garbage-free soon, the minister said.
He also visited the solid waste management unit at Kumbarakoppal. MLAs G T Devegowda, Tanveer Sait, MUDA chairman H V Rajeev, DCP Prakash Gowda, MCC commissioner Gurudatta Heggade and MUDA commissioner Natesh were present on the occasion.
