Veena Kashappanavar files papers, richer than spouse

Congress nominee from Bagalkot parliamentary constituency Veena Kashappanavar on Thursday submitted her nomination papers to the election officer.

Bagalkot segment will go to polls in the second phase on April 23. Two independents Ramangouda Balwad and Ravi Padasalgi also filed their nominations.

Interestingly, Veena, wife of former minister Vijayananda Kashappanavar, is richer than her spouse.

Veena will file her second set of nomination papers on April 1 followed by a massive rally to be attended by senior Congress leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Siddaramaiah, G Parameshwara, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Satish Jarkiholi among others.

In the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission, Veena has declared her assets worth Rs 6.03 crore while her spouse owns assets worth Rs 5.29 crore.

Veena owns a Ford Endeavour car worth Rs 34 lakh, two cars worth Rs 44 lakh, a residential building in Bengaluru worth Rs 3.35 crore, 33 acres agriculture land worth Rs 85.80 lakh, a plot valued at Rs 50 lakh, jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh and Rs 2 lakh cash in hand. She has declared liability of Rs 1.62 crore.

Vijayananda has a flat in Bengaluru worth Rs 2.72 crore and 45 acres of farm land worth Rs 82.60 lakh among others.
