Karnataka to fund Rs 2,500 crore for railway projects

He conveyed this in a letter to Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee. Yeddyurappa requested sanction for six projects -- Talaguppa-Honnavar (83 kms); Shimoga-Harihar (84 kms); Kuduchi-Bagalkot (142 kms); Whitefield-Kolar (52 kms); Gadag-Haveri (84 kms); Tumkur-Davangere (210 kms) - in the coming Railway budget.

Earlier,Yeddyurappa had agreed to undertake sharing of costs in four projects being undertaken by railways on non-cost sharing basis; to undertake four new lines for which Karnataka government would give land free of cost and participate in 50:50 sharing of balance cost; five projects under public private partnership (PPP) mode and; to continue
cost sharing in six projects.
