KDA objects to English medium in Kindergartens

The Kannada Development Authority has objected inclusion of English medium at the kindergarten-level starting in its schools for the academic year 2019-20.

In the discussion held on Monday, the Authority has decided to recommend the government not to start English medium in kindergartens. Prof S G Siddaramaiah said, “We are happy that the government considered our recommendations and has started pre-primary classes in government schools, but it is not healthy to start English medium at that level.”

Pre-primary education should be informal schooling and should not be text book or any medium-based. We will request the government to change the concept, he said.
