Kin carry baby, oxygen cylinder at govt hospital

Heart-rending scenes were witnessed at the Kims Hospital here on Saturday when the relatives of a two-year-old girl had to carry her to the scanning centre along with an oxygen cylinder, in the absence of support staff.

The girl, Gouthami Ningappa Sarpannavara, had been admitted to the hospital for fever three days ago.

The child’s grandfather Honnappa said four to five people had come with the baby. So, they had no issues.

It would have been difficult, if only one person had brought the baby to the hospital. Dr Dattatreya Bunt, the hospital director, said there was a shortage of staff and the relatives of the baby were asked to carry her for faster treatment.
