KJP meet today to discuss BSY's return to BJP

Last Updated 10 July 2013, 20:16 IST

A meeting of KJP leaders on Thursday is expected to discuss the efforts by a section of BJP leaders to create a platform to bring back former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa to the BJP fold and, the subsequent merger of the two parties.

Sources close to Yeddurappa said he has convened the meeting as an opinion gathering exercise. The woo-Yeddyurappa campaign in the BJP led by D V Sadananda Gowda has been gaining strength. In their latest move, a delegation led by Gowda met BJP central leaders in Delhi to convince them about the importance of getting back Yeddyurappa to the party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Sources said they had received a positive response from the central leadership.

Yeddyurappa told reporters on Wednesday that the KJP would decide its political move only after getting a formal offer from the BJP. “I am reading media reports about BJP leaders taking up the issue. I cannot stop them. To me, it is an internal matter of the BJP,” he said. The issue is likely to be discussed again at the BJP core-committee meeting here on Friday.
