KJP to launch Secretariat march on December 26

Last Updated 21 December 2012, 11:26 IST

The Karnataka Janata Party has decided to launch "Vidhana Soudha (Secretariat) chalo" agitation on December 26 against the "failure" of the BJP government in releasing earmarked funds to implement various schemes initiated by him during his tenure as chief minister, KJP President B S Yeddyurappa today said.

Yeddyurappa told reporters here that the government should immediately release the funds to implement various schemes including "Bhagyalaxmi Yojane", or the party would launch a statewide protest in January next.

He alleged that the government has been tardy in identifying "Bhagyalaxmi Yojane" beneficiaries and alleged that the money has not reached the current beneficiaries.

Calling Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar's government as "Kumbhakarna" (In mythology Lord Ravan's brother who slept for first six months and remained awake in the next), Yeddyurappa alleged that the government was in deep slumber and unconcerned towards people's welfare.

Reacting to Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa's statement that Yeddyurappa's condition would be like that of Keshubhai Patel's in just concluded Gujarat polls, Yeddyurappa said one who are saying this they were not witness to the "houseful" Haveri rally (on Dec 9 when he launched KJP).

Asked whether Eshwarappa should tender resignation as Deputy Chief Minister in view of Lokayukta police lodging FIR against him for allegedly amassing wealth by misusing his position, Yeddyurappa said he wouldn't comment, but the people of the state would give their verdict on the issue (in the assembly polls due in May next).
