KJP will take the lead in forming Third Front: BSY

Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) president and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has decided to play a leading role in uniting all regional parties in the country and bringing them on a common platform before the next parliamentary elections.

According to him, the regional parties have a greater role to play in the formation of the government at the Centre and in this background, he will seize the opportunity for uniting these parties.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Yeddyurappa argued that Karnataka was in need of a powerful regional party and said he was confident of KJP filling the void. Yeddyurappa pointed out that even former prime minister H D Deve Gowda had advocated the need for a strong and stable regional party for the State.

“After the Assembly elections, I will camp in Delhi for about 10 days and meet the presidents of all regional parties and their chief ministers and discuss the idea of regional parties making a common cause for either formation of their own government or helping others form the government with major share for them in governance,’’ Yeddyurappa said.

Addressing a press conference at Manvi in Raichur district, he said he would support the formation of a non-Congress, non-BJP Third Front at the Centre.
