Kodava hockey tournament in April

Kodava Hockey tournament will be held in the month of April, said Hockey Coorg president Paikera T Kalaiah.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, he said, “Initially it was decided to postpone the Kodava hockey tournament following the natural calamity that hit Kodagu in August 2018. However, following the appeal made by Kodava families, it has been decided to hold the tournament.”

The tournament will be held under the title ‘Hockey Coorg Inter Kodava Family Champion 2019’.

The uniqueness of the tournament is that the tournament will be held for the teams that had played in the semi-final and final matches of the Kodava hockey tournament for the last 22 years. Separate matches will be held for other teams.

The tournament will be held either at Astroturf ground or Kakotuparambu ground. The entry is free for the teams from the natural calamity hit areas in the district. Entry fee for others is Rs 1,000.

About 50% of the funds raised for the tournament will be given to the natural calamity victims. For details contact: 95355 46955, 94833 94515.
