Last Updated 25 July 2018, 08:58 IST

The threat of floods along the banks of river Krishna and its tributaries was completely allayed with an inflow of water from Maharashtra into the state, continuing to lessen for the fourth consecutive day, on Wednesday.

Four low-lying bridges in Chikkodi and one in Raibag were opened for traffic on Tuesday and two more in Chikkodi might be thrown open by Wednesday evening.

Inflow into river Krishna from Maharashtra receded to 1.22 lakh cusecs.

Inflow from Rajapur barrage across the border came down to 1.06 lakh cusecs; 22,176 cusecs from river Doodhganga.

Water levels in the rivers are at normal and have declined by about three feet in two days.

Water that had flooded crops along the banks of the rivers is also drying up.
