Kumaraswamy-led team to meet Modi on floods today

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will lead an all-party delegation to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seek relief for flood-affected districts of the state, including Kodagu, on September 10.

MPs H D Deve Gowda (Hassan), Shobha Karandlaje (Udupi-Chikkamagaluru), Nalin Kumar Kateel (Dakshina Kannada), Pratap Simha (Mysuru-Kodagu); Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, Revenue Minister R V Deshpande, Public Works Minister H D Revanna and RDPR Minister Krishna Byre Gowda will accompany him.

Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly B S Yeddyurappa and Leader of the Opposition in the Council Kota Srinivas Poojari too will be part of the delegation, which will apprise Modi of the situation in these districts.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 11.15 am, says a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Gowda, on Sunday, confirmed that he would accompany the delegation.

He was speaking to reporters in Hassan. Flood damage has been reported from Hassan, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts. Public property has been damaged, along with crops like coffee, cardamom and pepper, amounting to crores of rupees. Financial support will be sought to provide compensation and rebuild Kodagu, he said.
