Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa on Tuesday said that the state government would waive tax on farmers’ land for one year in drought-hit regions.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, the minister said that as the farmers were affected due to failure of monsoon, the government had decided to waive the land revenue.

He said that the houses constructed on government lands before 2013 in both urban and rural areas would be regularised by the end of December.

The officers concerned will conduct a survey in this regard and applications accepted on the spot during the survey, he added. To a query on the charge of land grabbing against Chief Secretary Arvind Jadhav, the minister said he has sought details in this regard and is yet to receive the report.
