BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa dubbed as “fake” a letter purportedly written by him to Central Board of Direct Taxes Chairman Sushil Chandra, seeking action against minister D K Shivakumar and his brother D K Suresh “for irregularities and corruption.”

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Yeddyurappa said, “The letter is a fake. I never indulge in such cheap politics. If proven I will quit politics”.

He also tweeted. “Fake letter claimed to be written by me by DKS brothers today shows the desperation of Congress to save its unholy government”, Yeddyurappa posted on his Twitter handle.

The BJP pointed out differences in the letterhead of the “fake” letter by posting an image of another letter Yeddyurappa had written. “The fake letter provides the address of Yeddyurappa’s residence in Bengaluru, but the phone number furnished is that of his Shivamogga residence. Also, Yeddyurappa ends his letters by signing on the right side, but in the fake letter, the signature is on the left side,” BJP stated.

He also rubbished charges by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Suresh that the BJP had been trying to destabilise the coalition government by misusing the Central agencies.

“D K Suresh and I have always enjoyed a good relationship. I do not know why such statements are being made. Why should we destablise the government?” he said.

Yeddyurappa, who was in New Delhi to attend the BJP National Executive meeting, all of a sudden returned to Bengaluru on Saturday leading to speculation in political circles. However, sources close to Yeddyurappa said he returned to Bengaluru to visit and inquire the health of his grandson who was hospitalised on Saturday morning following a kidney ailment.
