Lightning kills two farmers each in Haveri, Gulbarga

A man and his son were killed by a bolt of lightning while they were retuning home from their field in Devantagi village in Aland taluk of Gulbarga district on Monday evening.

In Haveri district, lightning killed two farmers in a field in the afternoon.

According to reports reaching Gulbarga, Yellappa Pyati (47) and his son Khandappa Pyati (19) died instantly when lightning struck them.

A case has been registered at Nimbarga police station.

In Afzalpur taluk, near Arjunagi village, a cow and her calf were killed by lightning while they were returning home after daylong grazing.

In Haveri

In Haveri district, at Kusgur village in Ranebennur taluk, Krishna Raddi Godihal (40) and Shambhu Lingana Gouda Kenchana Gouda (22) were cleaning weeds from the chilli crop in their field when lightning struck them.

Meanwhile, it rained in Bagalkot, Uttara Kannada, Gadag and Dharwad districts. While Hungund, Ilkal and Badami taluks in Bagalkot district received moderate rainfall, it was downpour in Kerur.

Nargund taluk in Gadag district too received heavy rainfall.

In Uttara Kannada district, Sirsi and Siddapur taluks received downpour while Yellapur taluk received moderate rainfall.

It drizzled in Hubli-Dharwad twin cities.
