Madhugiri, Kolar excel in SSLC exam results

Two education districts have sprung a surprise in SSLC examination results this year.
While Kolar has catapulted to fourth rank from 21st last year, Madhugiri has improved its performance dramatically - from 29th rank last year to sixth rank this year.

With an 86.30 pass percentage, the fete is a watershed in the history of Kolar. The district occupied 24th position in 2008 and the performance further plummeted in the next two years. Kolar was ranked 29 and 30 in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

A breakthrough was achieved during the academic year 2010-11, with Kolar securing eighth rank. The glory, however, was shortlived with the district slipping to 21st rank the next year.
The Education Department has initiated several measures to boost pass percentage.

Schools with poor performance were given in adoption to designated officers. Students lagging in studies were also given in adoption to teachers at their respective schools.
Madhugiri has improved its ranking from 29th position to sixth rank this year, thanks to the collective efforts by the Education department.

However, Tumkur education district has registered a drop in its performance.

Compared to Madhugiri, the Tumkur education district is well placed in terms of social and financial status. Yet, it could not come up with an appreciable performance.
