Following allegations levelled by one Som Dutta against Bangalore South BJP candidate Tejasvi Surya on Twitter, the Mahila Congress has filed a complaint with the Karnataka State Women's Commission seeking action against him.

The women's wing of the Congress has also urged the commission to ensure security for the victim. They have said that Tejasvi could influence to intimidate the victim.

The complaint by Mahila Congress president Pushpa Amarnath said that Som Dutta had already deleted her Twitter account, which made it apparent that she was being intimidated. "It is clear that Dutta is facing a threat to her life. Based on media reports and her posts on Twitter describing the physical and mental harassment faced by her from Tejasvi, appropriate action should be initiated against him. Also, Som Dutta should be provided police security," the complaint read.

The tweets by Som Dutta on March 27, which she had posted while replying to various accounts praising Tejasvi's candidature, was also attached in the complaint. In one of the tweets, she had accused Tejasvi of being a "womaniser, abuser and woman beater."
