Man attempts suicide by jumping off electric pole in Mysuru

High drama prevailed in the heart of Mysuru city on Wednesday afternoon when a man attempted to commit suicide by jumping off an electric pole at K R Circle.  

Police said that the person has been identified as Kantaraj and he is suffering from mental illness.  

The incident occurred at about 1.20 pm, when Kantaraj climbed up an electric pole and tried to jump off it.

Bystanders on the road called the Devaraja police station.

Police rushed to the spot and coaxed Kantaraj not to jump.

However, Kantaraj has climbed to the tip of the pole and jumped down. A policeman who had climbed up a ladder to save him, has caught hold of him in mid-air and brought him down safely. Owing to the incident, traffic was affected for an hour.
