1,500 police staff on poll duty get kits

Kits with essentials will be distributed among police personnel in Dakshina Kannada on April 17.

City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil has said that all the 1,500 police personnel who have been assigned poll duty will be provided with a special kit containing essentials.

“The kits contain biscuits, toothpaste, tooth brushes, candles, match boxes, soaps, and shaving cream. This is for the first time that such a kit is being given to police personnel who are on election duty. The kit will be distributed on April 17, the commissioner told reporters at a meeting on Monday.

“Elaborate security measures have been taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha elections in the commissionerate limits. There are 883 polling booths in the four Assembly segments that come under the jurisdiction of the commissionerate and 220 of them have been identified as critical. A total of 12 CAR platoons and 8 KSRP platoons had been deployed in the sensitive areas in all the four Assembly constituencies,” explained Patil.
