JOIN USThe presence of mind shown by a bus driver to save the passengers from a wild elephant attack in Tarikere has been appreciated by the people. The incident took place near Santaveri on Saturday evening.
A KSRTC bus bound for Chikkamagaluru had started off from the town and when it reached the curve near Santaveri at 6.30 pm, it encountered a wild elephant approaching from the opposite direction.
Even as the passengers in the bus were struck by panic, the bus driver carefully took the bus in a reverse direction for two-kilometres on the rugged path till the pachyderm made its way to the woods.
Passengers opined that the elephant might have come to the road in search of water. Meanwhile, they have appreciated the presence of mind of the bus driver.
