Bison falls into gobar gas pit, injures two

A bison, which accidentally fell into a gobar gas pit at Kadabettu Parlottu near Vagga in Bantwal taluk, injured two women.

The injured women - Harshitha and her relative Kumari, residents of Peramogru near Mani - have been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

A wild bison had accidentally fallen into the gobar gas pit owned by Alfred D’Souza on Saturday morning. When he saw, the bison struggling to come out and he informed the Forest Department officials. They rushed to the spot, broke the pit to allow the bison come out of the pit. The bison, while returning to the forest, attacked Harshitha and her relative Kumari who were walking towards their grandmother’s house in Peramogru. Harshitha has suffered injuries on her left hand while Kumari has suffered injuries on her stomach and back, Regional Fire Officer Suresh said.

The RFO said it is suspected that the bison from Kodyamale Reserve Forest would have strayed into the village in search of water and could have accidentally fallen into the gobar gas pit.
