Boy plays with veil, dies

An eight-year-old boy died of asphyxiation while playing with a veil around his neck on Saturday.

The family of the boy had lost their house during the natural calamity last year and have been dwelling in a house situated on the outskirts of Madikeri.

The boy was playing in his house with a veil, coiling it around his neck. But, the knot grew tighter and he felt difficulty in breathing. Though the boy tried to untie the knot, he could not do it.

When the boy’s father returned home, he rushed the boy to the hospital. But, by then, the boy had breathed his last.

The body was handed over to the family members, after conducting an autopsy.

When Union Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had visited the Maitri Samudaya Bhavana in Kodagu where the natural calamity affected people were provided shelter, the same boy had drawn the picture of the floods and had showed it to the minister.
