Last Updated 15 April 2019, 18:50 IST

A translation of the Constitution of India in Konkani, published by the Mangalore Diocesan Commission, will be released on April 20.

The release will take place after the Easter vigil all over the diocese of Mangaluru.

Roy Castelino, former chairman of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, told reporters on Monday that the translation was done by Prof Stephen Quadros Permude and Gladis Quadros Permude, under the leadership of Fr J B Crasta.

“The Catholic Bishops Conference of India wanted every person studying under its institutions – especially the Christians – to make an earnest attempt to learn and understand the Constitution, its provisions and other aspects related to it. The translation was done in Kannada script,” Castelino explained.

The book release will be organised at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Bolar. Mangaluru Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha will release the book. Mangalore Diocesan Citizen Awareness and Development Committee Co-convener Sushil Noronha will be present among others.

Fr J B Crasta, Sushil Noronha and Steven Quadras were present at the press meet.
