Datta Jayanti: DC tells officials to provide facilities

Deputy Commissioner Dr Bagadi Gautham directed officials to provide basic facilities to the devotees attending the Datta Jayanti celebrations between December 10 and 12.

The Jayanti celebrations will be held at the Inam Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababuden Swamy Dargah.

The deputy commissioner was chairing a preparatory meeting at his office in Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday.

“Anasuya Jayanti will be observed on Decalogue 10 and Datta Jayanti on December 12,” he said.

Dr Gautham told the officials concerned to repair the Manikyadhara and Gaalikere roads, to clear the weeds by the roads, to provide drinking water and to install signboards and barricades wherever necessary.

“The bathing platform at Honnammana Halla needs to be repaired. Toilets should be provided. The Mescom officials should ensure uninterrupted power supply during all three days of Datta Jayanti. Mini-buses should be operated by KSRTC,” the deputy commissioner listed out.

Speaking further, he said, “Two earthmovers should be deployed as a precautionary measure. The district Health and Family Welfare Department should provide ambulances, medicines and a temporary clinic at the Dargah.”

Dr Gautham also said that the Chikkamagaluru City Municipal Council officials should make necessary arrangement to decorate the streets leading to town and to the Datta Peetha with electric lights.

“The BSNL officials should ensure proper network connectivity,” he added.

“The Police Department will issue identity cards to the dignitaries and volunteers visiting the Datta Peetha,” he said.

District Superintendent of Police Harish Pande, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Kumar, Tarikere Assistant Commissioner Roopa, Tahsildar Nandakumar and CMC Commissioner Parameshi were present at the meeting.
