Last Updated 16 July 2018, 17:40 IST

The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) district committee has urged the police to initiate legal action against dance bars, skill game centre, gambling den and massage parlours.

In a memorandum submitted to the police commissioner, the committee said that in the name of recreation clubs, unauthorised dance bars, skill game centres, gambling dens and massage parlours are functioning in the city.

The unauthorised centres are affecting the law and order and also posing a social problem. Daily wage earners, autorickshaw drivers and pettyshop owners are becoming prey to such games and spending their earnings on them. Students may also have become a prey for these evils, the committee said.

Illegal activities, like prostitution, is carried out in the name of massage parlours. If the authorities fail to act, the DYFI will intensify its protest against such unauthorised centres, the committee said.
