‘Explore possibilities of material science’

With the application of material science, researchers should lay emphasis on the discovery of eco-friendly substances, said Mangalore University Registrar Prof A M Khan.

Speaking during a national-level workshop organised by the Department of Chemistry at Field Marshal K M Cariappa College in Madikeri on Tuesday, he said that Material Science, which is an important branch of Chemistry provides ample opportunities for the creation of products which could ease the lives of individuals, without leaving a negative impact on nature.

The human cells have been understood on the basis of Material Science, he added.

Madras University Chemistry Department chairman Dr C Joseph Kennedy opined that Chemistry will come in handy while keeping pace with development activities in the day to day lives.

Field Marshal K M Cariappa College principal Dr T D Thammaiah and Mangaluru University Chemistry Department chairman Prof G K Nagaraj were present among others.
