FIR against BJP workers

The Mangaluru East (Kadri) police have registered a first information report (FIR) against BJP workers who allegedly attempted to observe Vijayotsava by bursting crackers in front of the District Congress Committee (DCC) office at Mallikatte and behaved indecently with the police, after the announcement of Lok Sabha election results on Thursday.

The police had strengthened security across the district to ensure that no untoward incidents take place on the day of the counting of votes of the Lok Sabha election. The police deployed near the DCC office had prevented BJP workers from bursting crackers. But a few workers in the group opposed the police and even behaved indecently with them.

The police have booked cases against all the BJP workers who behaved indecently with them.

City police commissioner Sandeep Patil said, “The police had taken timely action. An FIR has been registered against those who violated the prohibitory orders and behaved indecently with the police. All will be traced shortly.”

Patil has presented a letter of appreciation for Kadri Police Station constables Girish Jogi, Hemalatha and Latha who prevented the Vijayotsava in front of the the Congress office.
