The government should withdraw trade licence, implement uniform property tax and slash the steep hike in water tariff for industries, trade and service sector across the state, Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (FKCCI) President Sudhakar S Shetty urged on Friday.

Shetty told reporters at Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) hall in Bunder, that FKCCI was visiting Mangaluru and 29 other districts in the state as part of a mission to create an ecosystem and encourage the economic activities in districts outside Bengaluru.

Earlier Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President P B Abdul Hameed submitted a memorandum highlighting their demands to be handed over to chief minister. Shetty agreed that the corruption in bureaucracy and the mindset of bankers were discouraging youngsters to become entrepreneurs.

The youth population in India is estimated at 90 lakh. Even if five lakh youth become job creators they can provide employment to 85 lakh youth he said. Keeping this objective in mind FKCCI launched a help desk and ‘Youth India’ initiative in order to help youth in the 25-35 age group become job providers.

“Under ‘Youth India’ initiative, nine concepts (business ideas) are shortlisted and FKCCI provides all support to help them launch a business model and become successful entrepreneurs,” he informed. To a query FKCCI promised to extend all support including clearing the hurdels faced by new industries.

Shetty also promised to urge government on establishing a new industrial estate in Mangaluru. Earlier KCCI President P B Abdul Hameed submitted a list of demands to be handed over to Chief Minister to FKCCI President Sudhakar Shetty.
