'Kalchada Habba' of Lord Iggutappa will be held on Saturday. In the festival which arrives in the month of ‘Kumbha’, the deity will be offered special prayers.

Carrying Lord Iggutappa’s Utsava idol, devotees visit Malma hills and offer puja rituals there.

Devotees of Nelaji Iggutappa Temple and Peruru Iggutappa Temple will take part in the Kalchada festival.

It is believed that six baby boys and one baby girl were born out of a conch in Kerala. The fourth child, with the boon of Lord Iggutappa, came and settled in Padi kshetra in Kodagu.

His arrival brought prosperity to the people in the region. To commemorate the occasion, special prayers are offered to ‘Dhanya Lakshmi’ as a part of Huttari Habba.

The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has been renovated a few years ago. The devotees formed a committee by the name of Iggutappa Bhaktajana Mandali and funded the renovation.

The Brahmakalashotsava of Nelaji Iggutappa Temple was held recently.

Padi Iggutappa is revered by the people of Kodagu. Lord Padi Iggutappa is popularly known as the ‘Lord of Rains’. Agriculturists offer special prayers to the lord.

Padi Iggutappa Temple managing committee chairman Bachamanda Lava Chinnappa has requested the devotees to follow social distancing and follow other norms of Covid-19 during the festival.
