Madikeri getting ready for state-level art camp

Vehicles have been arranged from Omkareshwari Temple to ferry art lovers who wish to attend the cultural programmes at Kaloor

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Karnataka Lalitha Kala Academy will organise a state-level art camp in Madikeri from April 2 to 4.

The cultural programmes will be held in the evening on all three days at Kaloor village and will be organised jointly by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru and Infosys Foundation.

The art camp will be inaugurated at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kodagu Vidyalaya in Madikeri on April 2 by MP Pratap Simha.

Kannada and culture department retired commissioner K R Ramakrishna will be the chief guest, while Karnataka Lalita Kala Academy president D Mahendra will preside.

Ten artists from across the state will take part in the art camp and will draw paintings.

The art camp valedictory will be held at Yashaswi of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at Kaloor on April 4. Virajpet MLA K G Bopaiah will be the chief guest, while Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kodagu president K S Devaiah will preside.

Cultural programmes

On April 2 a Kodava folk dance will be performed by Muthunadu Abhimani Okkuta and Muthunadi Pommakkada Okkuta at 5 pm. On April 4, a flute recitation by Hemanth and Herambha will be held from 5 pm to 6.30 pm.

The paintings will be open for the public from 2 pm to 4 pm on April 3 and 4, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kodagu Vidyalaya, said Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan secretary Balaji Kashyap.
