Tension prevailed in Talapady-- the border of Karnataka and Kerala--when Kasargod’s Muslim League Workers threw stones at the police on Saturday evening.

Muslim League workers were celebrating the victory of the Congress candidate Rajmohan Unnithan who won from the Kasaragod LS seat.

The party workers crossed the border into Karnataka and when the police attempted to stop them, they pelted stones.

Mulsim League workers waving their party flags crossed the border and began shouting slogans. They were on four bikes.

The police rushed to the spot and took them into custody. Immediately, other youth on over 50 bikes reached the border and begun pelting stones at the police.

In order to bring the situation under control, police resorted to lathi charge.

The miscreants also threw stones at a KSRTC bus plying from Mudigere in Chikkamagaluru for wedding programme in Thrikaripur, Kasargod.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil rushed to the spot and told Kerala and Ullal police to take action against the miscreants.
